The features of the pūnohu uakoko

The pūnohu and the uakoko appear together in many of the traditional Hawaiian stories, such as the story of Kekalukaluokēwā, the tongue of Kihanuilūlūmoku resembles a pūnohu uakoko.[1]

There is no specific definition for the pūnohu uakoko in the dictionaries. A pūnohu uakoko is shown in the photograph below.

The strata that the pūnohu uakoko appear

Since both the pūnohu and the uakoko are low-lying rainbows, they can appear as high as a portion of the lewa lani lewa.

The times that the pūnohu uakoko appear

At times the pūnohu uakoko appear with another rainbow. 

 

The signs/omens of the pūnohu uakoko

The research results for the pūnohu, pūnohu ʻula are shown below. There were 6 signs/omens found within the sources analyzed. There are 12 occurrences of these signs/omens, and the signs concerning a movement were the most numerous (8). The Chi-square goodness-of-fit test was performed on the data, and the result is that the data varies significantly from an equal distribution and therefore one or more of the groups is significantly different than the others from a mathematical perspective.[2] Which group(s)? Perhaps it is the group of signs concerning a movement since it is the most numerous.
