The Sign Groups

The signs are very numerous, as are the omens of all the rainbow types within the traditional Hawaiian stories/legends, and within some of the other references as well. These were all collected together, and they formed the beginning of a list. The result, there are 21 signs/omens on the list shown below on the right (translation on the left).[1] In the left column, the source of each of these is shown. If they these signs/omens are examined closely, some are very similar. Therefore, these were grouped together within 5 groups. This grouping allows for easier analysis and comparison of the signs/omens within and between the groups.
